How to change the login password of the Linksys range extender?

The login password of the range extender is extremely efficient while accessing the extender.linksys.com interface. You cannot access the web menu Dashboard of the Linksys range extender without typing the correct login credential in the provided field of the login window. If a user hasn’t changed the default login password, he has to type “admin” in the provided field as the default login credential.

Steps to change the admin password of the Linksys range extender

  1. Open a browser on the computer connected to the extender’s network.
  2. Type extender.linksys.com on the address bar and hit enter.
  3. If you fail to enter, type 192.168.254.1 as the URL of the browser.
  4. The default login window appears on the screen.
  5. Type “admin” on the username field and mention the password you typed earlier during the login process.
  6. If you haven’t changed the login password type “admin” on the password field.
  7. Both the username and password fields are case-sensitive.
  8. Click Login and you will be redirected to the extender.linksys.com menu Dashboard.
  9. From the main navigation panel go to the Management tab, select the Administration tab.
  10. Scroll down the administration page and find the extender password field.
  11. Type down the login password you want to assign in the Extender password field.
  12. Retype the password in the confirm password field.
  13. The router password should be different from the Wi-fi password of the extended network.
  14. Make sure you are fulfilling all the requirements for assigning the login password.
  15. Click Save when it’s done.

Note: Be careful while assigning the login password, as the password field of the login window is case-sensitive. For example, if you have assigned “PASSWORD1996” as the login password, you will be denied if you enter“password1996” in the password.

why myrouter.local not working?

Note: While configuring the Wireless settings, you can create a hidden network to avoid unwanted entry into the extended network. If you select the “Hide the SSID” option, users nearby the extended Wi-fi won’t be able to see the device in the Wi-fi list. You need to type the wireless network name manually in the Wi-fi list.
